"A glad heart makes a cheerful countenance.” Proverbs 15:13
And I have always enjoyed the country music singer Roger Miller. He oncesaid something that I thought was profound, "Some people walk in the rain.Others just get wet."
Someone once asked Pete Rose when he was in his 40s and still playingprofessional baseball whether or not the legs are the first thing thatgoes in professional baseball. He responded by declaring, “It was not thelegs, but rather the inner desire and the gratitude of being there, thatis the first to go.”
Attitude is everything. The happiest people that I have ever known havebeen thankful for everything constantly. They were aware of the good intheir lives. They praised their life and the people in their life.
An attitude of gratitude is something you can train yourself to have. Itis a learned response, and habit that a human being can acquire, just asan attitude of cynicism, or an attitude of criticism, is a learnedresponse to life. Pessimism practiced produces a negative life. Anattitude of gratitude practiced produces a positive life.
Start to become aware of the good around you, search for the good and givethanks to God for it. Live your life in gratitude. Practice beinggrateful today. The highest form of prayer is thankfulness. To look atsomething with eyes of wonder, and sincerely say, “Thank You God” is thehighest form of prayer you can offer.
As you focus on the good in your life, your thoughts will begin to dwellon the good and your well-being will be uplifted. Next, you praise yourlife, and the people in it, and you praise yourself by looking for thegood in yourself, instead of constantly seeing the bad.
God gave you life, for you to enjoy, and make the most of. It does not doyou, or any one else, any good to constantly focus on the negative andcomplain.
There is a Divine goodness at the root of all existence. Today you seethis Divine goodness all around you. It is there for the seeking. Youare optimistic about your life; you have faith in the future; you havefaith in the Spirit of God at work to help all people everywhere. Youkeep in mind that God is guiding and blessing all creation. Youcontribute to the general good by your positive loving thoughts, feelings, actions and reactions.
In Job 37:14 our Bible states, "Stop and consider the wondrous works ofGod."
Everywhere you look, you see the goodness of God. You see it in allpeople and in all the experiences of your life today.
God Bless You! Make it a GREAT day!
